Every frame ever sold on Lucyd.co has been designed and made by Innovative Eyewear. That changes in September, when HTC's VIVE Eagle camera glasses go on sale there — the first product on the platform that the company did not build itself.
Innovative Eyewear announced the arrangement on August 24, according to a company press release. HTC's glasses will be offered with a free basic prescription upgrade through Lucyd.co's US-based lens fulfillment service. No financial terms were disclosed.
CEO Harrison Gross said in the release that quality standards had kept the platform exclusive to in-house products until now. "VIVE Eagle is the first product developed by a partner that we are offering on our site," he said, citing what he called all-day wearability, utility, audio quality, and award-winning design. Charles Huang, HTC's SVP of Global Sales and Marketing, said Innovative Eyewear had "consistently proven themselves in the smart eyewear space" and described the prescription fulfillment as part of the deal's appeal.
The VIVE Eagle competes in the AI camera glasses segment — frames with a built-in camera for recording on the go. Privacy features stop recording when the glasses are not being worn or when the indicator light is blocked, the release says. The glasses work with HTC's VIVE Connect app for AI conversation recording, translation, and camera management.
Shares closed 63.77% higher at $1.1200 after the announcement, on dollar volume of about $200 million against a free float of roughly 5.8 million shares. Short volume on the session was 57.12% of reported volume.
In a separate release on August 20, the company also said it had added AI-generated personalised news reports to its Lucyd app, along with access to Google's Gemini service and improved Android features. Those updates apply to its own glasses, not the VIVE Eagle, and carry no disclosed revenue figures.
What Innovative Eyewear receives in exchange for distributing HTC's glasses — a revenue share, a licensing fee, or something else — the release does not say.
