Immuron has struck an exclusive deal to bring PROIBS — a gut-health medical device that has been sold in Swedish pharmacies for more than a decade — to the United States. The agreement is with Calmino group AB, the Swedish company that developed the product, extending an arrangement that began when Immuron launched PROIBS in Australia.

Immuron Limited NASDAQ: IMRN

Shares closed 62.16% higher at $1.8000 after the announcement, on dollar volume of about $217 million.

The deal adds a product with a long commercial track record to Immuron's US lineup. The announcement gives no financial terms, no minimum order commitments, and no date for when PROIBS will reach US shelves. Holders know a new product is coming; the rest is still open.

PROIBS is classified as a medical device, not a supplement, and is indicated for abdominal pain, bloating and irregular bowel movements. It works through a gel-forming compound drawn from the Aloe barbadensis plant, which Calmino says supports the intestinal lining. In a usability study of 1,003 people run by Calmino itself, 94% said the product was helpful and 98% said they would recommend it to others.

Chief Commercial Officer Flavio Palumbo said in the announcement that the move follows what the release described as rapid growth of Travelan, Immuron's existing US product, and forms part of a broader plan to build a gut-health portfolio. No revenue figures for either product were given.

During the session, 57.38% of reported volume was short, according to exchange data — more than half of all volume on the day the deal was disclosed.

The release did not address the product's regulatory status in the United States or say when it would be available to US consumers.
