Brasnova Energy Materials has submitted five analytical batches totalling 110 samples from its Capela gold project in Pintadas, Bahia, Brazil, to laboratory SGS Geosol. According to the August 13, 2026 release, the batches comprise 52 rock samples, 14 active stream sediment samples and 44 soil samples, including quality-control reference materials and blanks. A further soil batch is still being collected.
None of the results have been received. The company says assays will be reported after compilation and completion of its internal quality assurance and quality control review. No date was given for that.
The work follows rock chip results the company disclosed on July 14, 2026, in which 22 of 23 chip samples returned 0.241 g/t gold or higher, with a top value of 4.13 g/t gold. Three other samples exceeded 1 g/t: 1.734 g/t, 1.435 g/t and 1.170 g/t. Those numbers come from surface chip sampling, which measures rock at outcrop and says nothing about grade or continuity at depth. The project has no drilling and no mineral resource estimate.
What the current program consists of
The follow-up work is geological mapping plus three sampling media. Rock samples were taken along what the company interprets as the continuation of the mineralized host rock, described as a metagranodiorite emplaced along a ductile-brittle shear zone, and from altered quartz-vein occurrences outside the original target.
A soil grid on 100-metre lines with stations every 25 metres has been laid out across the known metagranodiorite occurrences. The stated purpose is to test lateral extent in ground where bedrock is poorly exposed. Stream sediment sampling covers drainages in the same area.
Mapping has documented potassic alteration, silicification, stockwork quartz veinlets, sulphide mineralization and gossan — a weathered, iron-oxide-rich cap that forms above sulphide bodies.
New occurrences, visually identified only
Brasnova reports additional quartz-vein occurrences north and southwest of the main Capela target, with hematite, oxidation and cavities the company interprets as boxwork textures, meaning voids left where sulphide minerals have dissolved during weathering.
At one prospect southwest of the target, designated MJ-144, field staff visually identified copper sulphide interpreted as bornite. The release is explicit that this is a field observation, not a laboratory determination, and that samples from these occurrences form part of the pending analytical program. Until assays return, the occurrences carry no measured grade.
Multi-element data from the earlier chip sampling showed variable enrichment in copper, lead, zinc, sulphur, arsenic and silver. The appendix to the release lists copper values up to 729 ppm and zinc up to 1,921 ppm in individual chip samples.
Method and oversight
Gold is analysed by fire assay on a 50-gram charge with an atomic absorption finish; other elements by ICP-OES/MS after multi-acid digestion. Brasnova says it inserts certified reference materials and blanks into its own batches alongside the laboratory's internal controls. The appendix shows the blank and standard in the earlier batch both returning below the 5 ppb detection limit for gold.
The qualified person for the project is Carlos Henrique Lourenço Bastos, a senior geologist registered with the Brazilian Commission for Resources and Reserves. He cautioned in the release that the new field observations remain to be tested: their "significance will be determined by the pending laboratory results and their integration with the geological and structural data."
What the release does not say
The announcement contains no exploration budget, cash position or share count, and no timetable beyond the statement that one soil batch is in progress. There is no drill program announced and no indication of how the current program would be funded through to drilling. Brasnova describes itself as focused on Brazilian critical materials assets; Capela is a gold project.
The company states the project is being advanced under the NI 43-101 framework, the Canadian standard for disclosure of mineral projects. Capela sits within claim ANM 871.883/2023. Brasnova trades on the TSX Venture Exchange under BEM.
