A firm called Muddy Insights published a report warning that an August 20 hearing in Hong Kong would lead to a winding-up order and a Nasdaq suspension for TROOPS, Inc. TROOPS replied the same day: the judgment is stayed, enforcement is blocked, and the hearing was a scheduling session — not a reckoning.

TROOPS, Inc. NASDAQ: TROO

The underlying judgment is real. Hong Kong's High Court ruled in June 2025 that TROOPS and two subsidiaries are, alongside other defendants, jointly and severally liable — meaning any one defendant can be held for the full amount if the others cannot pay — for **HK$163.4 million under one claim** and **HK$241.4 million under a second**. The company says it is one of **eleven defendants** named, and that others have already posted assets with the court as security.

TROOPS filed a notice of appeal in July 2025\. The Hong Kong Court of Appeal **scheduled the hearing for February 2027**, and the court granted a stay of execution, so the judgment cannot currently be enforced. A related winding-up petition in the Cayman Islands continues to be adjourned pending the appeal outcome.

For anyone holding the stock, the core tension is direct: Muddy Insights says the legal exposure threatens the company's survival near term, while TROOPS says enforcement is blocked and nothing changes until the 2027 appeal. The company's statement does not address what happens to its Nasdaq listing if the stay were lifted before the appeal concludes.

Shares **closed 15.74% higher at $2.2800** on August 19, on dollar volume of about $1.1 million.

Muddy Insights is a short-seller research firm, which means it benefits financially if the share price falls. That does not make the underlying judgment disappear. The appeal is the event that resolves the dispute, and it is not scheduled until early 2027.
