Oxbridge Re Holdings, a holding company whose subsidiaries write Gulf Coast property reinsurance, **launched AI GridWorks on August 12** — a new platform it says will develop, own and operate AI data centers. The announcement named no customers, no financing and no specific locations. The company is a small reinsurer moving into a capital-intensive industry with nothing yet committed on paper.

Oxbridge Re Holdings Limited NASDAQ: OXBR

Shares closed 17.69% higher two days after the announcement, at $1.53 against a previous close of $1.30\. Dollar volume was about $298,000 across 1,630 trades. The free float is about 5.9 million shares, or 73.3% of shares outstanding. Short volume in the session was 39,224 shares, representing 35.73% of reported volume.

According to the August 12 release, **AI GridWorks will target projects ranging from 10 MW to 100 MW** in power capacity — megawatts of electricity draw, the standard measure of data center scale — with an initial focus on roughly 50 MW facilities. The company says it will hire engineering, construction and technology firms as projects advance, but gave no timeline or budget for doing so.

A separate earnings release filed by Oxbridge on August 13 reported **about $19.8 million in restricted cash** — funds set aside under contractual or regulatory requirements and not freely deployable — at June 30, up from about $7.0 million at December 31, 2025\. The company said in that release that the balance "places Oxbridge in a strong position as it advances its AI infrastructure strategy," but did not say how much, if any, is available for AI GridWorks specifically.

Chairman and CEO Jay Madhu said in the August 12 release that "owning and developing these critical AI infrastructure assets has the potential to create significant long-term value for our shareholders."

The company described AI GridWorks as **"the first phase" of a broader AI infrastructure strategy** and cited SurancePlus — which tokenizes reinsurance contracts on the Solana blockchain — as evidence of its ability to build new business lines. Its regulated reinsurance subsidiaries continue to operate.
